School's Out for the Summer

I know everyone says this, but man the time goes by fast.  I can't believe that his first year of preschool is over.  I struggled with if he was too young to go, should I put him in, how would he do, he doesn't even talk yet...but, I am so glad we let him go.  Since C was diagonosed with a severe speech delay the month before he started school, I wasn't sure it was a good idea to let him go.  Kids with speech delays usually bite, hit, and have other ways of getting their point accross that isn't all that accepted in a classroom setting.  We also weren't sure that he just had a speech delay and it would take months of therapy to determine that.  So, I prayed for his teacher and that he would do good his first year.  And man did God deliever.  Mrs. Rachel and Mrs. Janna were just perfect.  He was one of the few boys in his class, and I posted last year about how I left the first day hoping that they would allow him to come back.  He transformed there.  He went in as this shy little boy who barely said anything to this singing machine literally dancing off the tables.  He can count to 11, knows most of his colors and shapes, and learned all kinds of social things like sitting at the table, being kind, and the first layers of teamwork.  Mrs. Rachel and I got to hang out a little more since her son also went to speech each week at the same place C went...actually the appointment right after C.  God was so good to have his first teacher understand speech delays and encourage him along the way.  We would chat each Tuesday afternoon and I feel like I got the extra insider peek into his classroom.  She would let me know if he said new words at school, and I could let her know what things he could say so she would knew when she could push him.  We had this partnership, and I hope that all of my kids teachers are like this...a partnership.  I am so thankful that Mrs. Rachel loved C just like her own, left her kids each day to play with mine, and really understands boys.  I am so thankful for Mrs. Janna's sweet spirit and that C won her heart with his sly smile, and that she loves Wheels on the Bus as much as he does.

All the girls in his class love Callie...the little sister...but...the little sister doesn't always like to be "loved".

C loved his end of the year party - Water Day
